Someone in your corner.

Some of the most useful career conversations happen outside your organisation, with someone who has no stake in the outcome other than yours.

I work one to one with service designers who are figuring out what they want next and how to go after it.

D came to me at a difficult point in their career, uncertain about their direction and how to communicate their value. We worked together on positioning, materials, and how they thought about the process itself.

In their words:

"

Tom helped me communicate my skills and experience much more clearly and confidently, in a way that felt true to who I am rather than trying to fit a mould. He helped me reframe the application process, seeing small changes as experiments and the whole experience as problem-solving, which made it feel far more constructive and much less disheartening."

D is now working in an area they are passionate about.

Who I work with

  • You are a designer feeling stuck and unsure what to do next in your career.
  • You struggle to stand out from the crowd and express what makes your work valuable.
  • You need guidance on preparing for the next promotional step or shifting into a leadership position.

Why me

With over 15 years experience working in design roles I've first hand experience of navigating crises of confidence and moving into a design leadership role. I have interviewed over 100 design candidates and sifted through many more CVs and resumes where standing out from peers has become increasingly harder.

I believe that by talking through a designer's experience, reviewing their CV and resume and with empathetic coaching, I can help designers find their own path and communicate it clearly.
